2017 | The foundations of mDairy: the Delft-Nigerian Student Business Challenge

The Dutch-Nigerian Student Business Challenge with support from Netherlands Enterprise Agency consisted of a 6 week program and was organized by a collaboration between the Delft University of Technology and Passion Incubation, a business incubator located in Lagos. Six teams of two Nigerian and two Dutch students came together to work on real-life challenges provided by international companies. Oyewale, Gbadegesin, Xandra and Nikki worked on a challenge provided by FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC to improve the livelihoods and market access of nomadic dairy farmers through their Dairy Development Programme (DDP). The brilliant team co-created a tech-enabled solution called mDairy, which won the price for best presentation prize for the challenge.

2018 | mDairy’s Progress

Oyewale Abioye and Gbadegesin Alawode, continued to engage farmers and necessary stakeholders critical to the development and deployment of mDairy solution. In collaboration with FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC and Delft University of Technology, Netherlands under the minor program entitled ‘International Entrepreneurship and Development’, they were able to secure three Dutch student Interns to work with mDairy. They leveraged on existing relationships while building new ones

2019 | Three TU Delft student Interns join the mDairy team on a three month internship

Three Dutch student interns join the mDairy team for a three month internship. They will be able to how to learn and work in a technology-related project in a different cultural and institutional setting while bringing valuable skills to support the work of mDairy.

mDairy’s is not just building a solution for the farmers, but with the farmers. We engage key stakeholders to get their buy-in and conduct research among farmers and dairy extension officers to gain better insight into their challenges and needs so as to provide tailored interventions and design mDairy to bridge the gap. We enjoy working with the farmers and helping them meet their needs through technology.
